Spring RV/Conversion Van Camping Destinations Pt:2, Northern California Edition
With the weather getting better, spring is around the corner. It’s officially time to start thinking about planning your first camping trip of the vacation season. The great state of California is home to hundreds of campgrounds. Last week we covered some of the southern part of the states highest rated destinations for RV’s and Conversion Vans. Northern California is home to some of the countries most spectacular campgrounds. Here are a few worth checking out.
1.Big Basin Redwoods State Park, Boulder Creek
Just north of Santa Cruz, Big Basin Redwoods Park is California’s oldest state park founded in 1902. Big Basin is known for its infamous redwood trees and over 80 miles of trails covering the parks diverse biospheres. With numerous lush waterfalls, scenic canyons and diverse wildlife Big Basin Redwoods is a great way to experience Northern California’s infamous natural beauty.

2.DL Bliss State Park, Tahoe
DL Bliss State Park borders Emerald Bay State Park to the north in scenic Lake Tahoe. It features one of the finest beaches on all of the lake. Popular hiking trails such as the Lighthouse Trail and Balancing Rock Nature trail make the park a hiking enthusiasts destination. Enjoy scuba diving and swimming in the crystal clear waters of beautiful Lake Tahoe. Beaches like Lester Beach or Calawaee Cove are perfect for picnicking and lounging around in the summer rays.

3.Kirk Creek, Big Sur
Each of Kirk Creeks 34 campsites has a magnificent view of the Pacific Ocean and the dramatic Big Sur coast. Kirk Creek is a popular destination for surfers and ocean fisherman. Campsites are spacious, open and grassy. Once you’ve witnessed a sunrise or sunset your life will never be the same again. Wildlife in the area includes bobcats, deer, raccoons and foxes. In February, whales migrate and can often be seen from the campsites.
4. Russian Gulch State Park, Mendocino
This park is known for the heavily forested Russian Gulch Creek Canyon, a headland that features the devils punch bowl (a large collapsed sea cave, with churning water), and a beach that offers swimming, tide pool exploring, skin diving and rock fishing. Inland there is a 36-foot high waterfall. In addition the parks scenic beauty, Russian Gulch also offers miles of trails for bikers and hikers.

5. Inyo National Forest, Sabrina Campground, Bishop
Sabrina Campground is a popular camping destination located in the Inyo National forest on Bishop Creek. Inyo National Forest is a gateway to iconic and beautiful Yosemite Valley. The nearby Cardinal Village Resort offers campers groceries, fishing supplies, a café and internet access. About 3 miles from the campground is Lake Sabrina, a popular destination in the spring and summertime.
