For the past 40 years, Roadtrek has been manufacturing some of the highest quality class B motorhomes on the market. The company, based in Ontario, Canada, is known for their forward-thinking and innovative coaches built on Mercedes, Chevrolet and Ram ProMaster chassis.
In the past few years, Roadtrek has continued to push the envelope in terms of creativity by building the exciting Nissan N6-Active. There’s really nothing the N6-Active can be compared to. It’s an SUV that can be used as an RV. Built on a Nissan NV2500 frame, this ultra-versatile class B combines the functionality of a motorhome, family SUV and tow vehicle – all in one!
“This is perfect for active families” says Jim Hammill, President of Roadtrek. “It can haul kids to soccer games, be used for tailgating, running around town as a second vehicle or as an RV for a long weekend.”
Upon stepping inside, you really feel the multi-functionality of the N6-Active. It’s a powerful vehicle, built with a 5.6-liter V-8 engine married to a five-speed automatic transmission. The frame is a boxed ladder structure that gives the same design of a medium-duty truck. Its GVWR (gross vehicle weight rating) is 9100 pounds and its unloaded weight (without people or cargo but with a full tank of fuel) is rated at 7850 lbs.
SUV/Around Town Use
The suspension of the NV2500 offers smooth driving capabilities comparable to that of an SUV. There is plenty of cargo space and the occupant capacity is 6 passengers plus a driver. The N6-Active features the driver and front passenger seats, two additional captain’s seats in the middle (these seats swivel 180 degrees), and the third row is a bench-style seat that can hold two adults or three children.
Directly behind the bench is a spacious cargo area. This large area is perfect for packing suitcases, camping gear, groceries, athletic equipment and just about anything else you may need to transport.
The N6-Active averages about 16.2 mpg across a wide variety of driving conditions. Combined with a 28-gallon fuel tank, the Active has considerably reasonable fuel efficiency.
Campervan Use
The cabin area of the N6-Active feels quite roomy. Its swivel seats and removable table provide the perfect location for playing cars, enjoying a beverage with friends, and eating a meal while on the road.
The N6-Active can sleep a total of five. The rear aft-bench folds down to sleep two adults. An optional panel can be installed across the two front seats to create an additional sleeping area for a child. The pop-up overhead sleeping area can house an additional two people.
Roadtrek N6-Active Campervan Features:
While the N6-Active does not contain a toilet, it does have an external use, hand-held shower just inside the rear doors. This is great for spraying off fishing boots, dirty hiking shoes and a quick rinse off after a swim.
A 2.5 cubic-foot refrigerator and a 700-watt microwave make light cooking relatively easy. The vehicle is also equipped with a sink which includes a hot and cold faucet.
Another nice feature of the campervan is all of the plugs and adapters throughout the cabin for your phones, computers, I-pads and any other tech devices you require.
