Ask Vets First
Since 1948, this group has specialized in giving free support, guidance and linking veterans with assistance. They have counselors on hand to help answer any questions you may have about eligibility and resources.

Paralyzed Veterans for America offers support for those who have suffered from extreme injuries and require wheelchair assistance. They help ex U.S. service members obtain financial aid as well as offer assistance to caregivers.

In many cases, the Veterans Affairs office will offer a grant of up to $20,235.00 (as of October 2016) for service members who have suffered the following losses:
- Permanent vision impairment
- Loss of one or both hands
- Loss of one or both feet
This grant is eligible once in a veteran’s lifetime.
The Veterans Affairs office will also provide funds to help adapt a minivan for wheelchair use. Contact the VA to inquire about adapting your vehicle with items such as wheelchair ramps, power steering, power seats, hand controls, lifts and other mobility equipment.
