For those of you who don’t watch much TV, there is a fantastic show on the Travel Channel called Extreme RV’s. Extreme RV’s features totally decadent, mobile mansions only the creative and extravagant could come up with. Every Sunday at 10pm/9c they find a new RV and give the viewers an inside look at these ‘palaces’ on wheels.
UNICAT RV’s
UNICAT is a German based company that refers to their RV’s as ‘expedition vehicles’. They are called ‘expedition vehicles’ because Thomas Ritter, the CEO of UNICAT founded the company based on:
“My desire to travel individually and my passion for technical perfection led to a decision of great importance: the design and construction of my own expedition vehicle. That was 30 years ago. Today I am still passionate about traveling. And from my passion for engineering, UNICAT evolved.”
UNICAT produces the most luxurious, highly off road capable RV’s. The bodies and everything inside them are built to withstand extreme terrain. Safari’s, jungle expeditions, extreme desert weather, you name it! They have been nicknamed ‘mini bomb-shelters’.
Recently Extreme RV’s featured a model produced by UNICAT called the Terra Cross-59. The Terra Cross-59 is waterproof, burglarproof, features bunk beds, and a double bed, seating area for 4-6 people, a bicycle carrier, a motorcycle carrier, high end kitchen appliances and even the ability to carry an ATV. The Terra Cross-59 that was featured on the show had a matching fiat attached. Pretty Extreme!
The UNICAT Terra Cross-59 can be yours for $600,000.
Willie Nelson’s Tour Bus
When you are country music legend Willie Nelson, what are you riding from show to show in? Answer: a 2014 Prevost X345 conversion bus that has been personalized in every way.
The “on the road again” singer had his Prevost customized with no expense spared. Inside the RV features wood grain panels, Native American artwork, and painted glass detailing. The cabin area looks like something out of a Clint Eastwood western.
The exterior features airbrushed scenes of cowboys. The van features the perfect touch of rock n roll and country.
The Prevost features two generators just in case one breaks down! They are also run on biodiesel.
Palace On Wheels: 2.3 Million Dollars!
2.3 million dollars is pretty pricey for a house. How about 2.3 for an RV? That’s the price of the Prevost, triple slide motorhome that features a custom designed wood grain ceiling, fingerprint security system, a 60” flat screen tv (one of several), built in home office, washer and dryer and so much more. This RV is decadent and luxurious in every sort of way.
Who owns the palace on wheels? That’s an answer we would like to know. According to Erik Merkle, a sales analyst at Ford Motors says most customers are successful retired or semi-retired baby boomers.
