Do you ever dream of purchasing an RV, but get bogged down with the thought of owning something so large?
Consider a class B campervan! Motorhomes offer the same luxuries and abilities as many “bus like” class C models, but without the stress and space consumption.
Class B motorhomes are easy to drive, park and maintain. Plus their price tag is less than a full-sized RV. Over the past few years as people have moved towards owning more fuel efficient vehicles, the motorhome industry has been creating and innovating the beloved travel van.
What exactly is a class B motorhome?
Class B motorhomes, also known as campervans, are full-sized conversion vans built for travel. They usually contain amenities such as kitchen areas, sleeping quarters, entertainment systems and fully functional bathrooms.
What is the size of a campervan?
Since campervans are built on full-sized cargo van chassis, they are similar in size to an everyday van you see used for utility purposes or a family vehicle. Campervans can be built on Mercedes Benz Sprinters, GMC Savanas, Ford Econolines, Ford Transits, Chevrolet Express, Nissan NVs and other standard van models.
To put it in perspective, most of these vans can fit into a standard home garage.
What features and amenities do class B motorhomes have?
Most campervans have fold down couches that make for great sleeping areas. Some also have taller ceilings that can include additional sleeping space. Many sleep 2-4 passengers.
Many motorhomes also have small kitchens that include a stove, refrigerator and even a microwave, as well as restrooms that include a toilet, sink, mirror and shower.
Almost all motorhomes have a TV and some type of entertainment system. Newer models include DVD or Blu-ray players as well as video gaming technology.
Most campervans will have a small living area and a table for eating and gathering around.
Why are campervans convenient?
First off, campervans are more affordable than a full-sized RV. You can expect to spend anywhere from $50,000 to $100,000 or more on a motorhome with plenty of features. New RVs, on the other hand, will set you back anywhere from $200,000 to $500,000 easily.
Secondly, class B motorhomes are easy to park and store. Many vans will fit in a standard garage or driveway. Astreet will do just fine too. They are easy to drive and handle similar to a minivan or larger van. While traveling, you can park a campervan just about anywhere. For instance, if you need to leave your campsite to go to a Walmart or convenience store, you don’t have to worry about where to park the vehicle.
Lastly, motorhomes are cheaper to maintain and have better fuel economy than a large class C or class A RV. The larger the vehicle, the more difficult it is to find a mechanic to work on it when something goes awry.
Campervans can come as luxurious or as basic as your heart desires. Whether you plan on living in it full time and traveling the country, or are looking for a weekend getaway vehicle for meeting friends, there’s no debating the convenience and flexibility these vehicles offer!
