With unlimited means and access to just about anything this planet has to offer, what is going to be the vehicle you choose for daily transportation? A limousine perhaps? No, that seems too 90’s. A Bentley or Roles Royce? Well those won’t due because you will be chauffeured around of course. Comfort and amenities will probably be high on your list along with style and ‘swag’. Conversion vans, particularly of the cargo variety offer spacious seating, a smooth comfortable ride and all the gadgets and gizmos you could think of. Its no wonder the rich and famous have a new found interest in converting these full sized vans into cushy, customized rides personalized to their needs.
Think about it, who is the most powerhouse couple on the planet? Beyonce and Jay-Z of course! Guess what the king and queen of cool and little Blue Ivy are riding around in? A Mercedes Sprinter, complete with all of the bells and whistles fit for American royalty. The Sprinter, designed by Mercedes with the intent of being used as a cargo van range in price anywhere from $40,000 to $ 70,000. It is reported that the first family of hip-hop has spent up to a million dollars transforming their cargo van into luxury on wheels.
Beyonce and Jay-Z aren’t the only ones these days rolling around in a van. Jay Cutler, quarterback of the Chicago Bears and his wife Kristen Cavalleri ride around in a white, Explorer conversion van. The parents of two little ones, the Cutlers reportedly love the roomy interior of the van in addition to the onboard entertainment such as TV and video game console. They may not have spent a million dollars on their family car but they appreciate the custom ability and space these vans have to offer.
Ryan Friedlinghaus, owner of West Coast Customs has made close to 100 custom sprinters of the last half a decade. “We get these crazy, wacky ideas……. It’s the perfect canvas for anything these people want to build.”
With the possibilities of variation being endless, almost any type of van can be created. It’s quite possible that cargo and conversion vans may just start becoming the new limousines to the elite.
