Living in A Van for 365 Days: One Millennial and a Dodge Sprinter

Katie Boué is a lifestyle blogger with three codes to life: adventure often, live healthy, and always climb higher.

Katie spent 365 days living in a yellow Dodge Sprinter conversion van, rock climbing and exploring all this country has to offer. Here is a little bit about her yearlong adventure on the road in a van!

After graduating college, Katie, a long time rock-climbing enthusiast, wasn’t quite ready for the 9-5 life. The Florida native was a freelance writer for LivingSocial, an online marketplace that allows its registered users to buy and share things to do in the city they live in.

As a writer, Katie could pretty much work anywhere with Wi-Fi connection. After saving up for a year, the recent college grad purchased a bright yellow Dodge ProMaster Sprinter. Katie’s ProMaster had a wheelbase of 144”, giving her 232.5” cubic space cargo/passenger area she could use to reside in over the next year. Inside she converted the Sprinter into the perfect unit for a full-sized bed and kitchen area.

Katie, being the smart girl that she is, got in touch with the folks at GOAL ZERO. GOAL ZERO is a company that specializes in easy-to-use solar powered products. You can spend anywhere from $300 to $3,000.00 on portable solar generator power packs that convert sunlight to power just about anything!

Curious about her trip, GOAL ZERO ended up sponsoring the young outdoor enthusiast. They outfitted her with a generator that took care of her refrigerator, lighting system and outlets.

While Katie’s trip may not be for everyone, she was able to explore the entire country and rock climb in some of the most incredible places.

“Van life is something I think everyone should absolutely try once in your life” said Katie.

From Florida to Colorado, Katie chronicles her van adventures in her blog http://themorningfresh.com/.

It’s an incredibly inspiring journey. She includes pictures of various climbing spots, restaurants, and outdoor areas that are not to be missed! Even the biggest homebody will get the road trip “bug” from glancing through her blog.

Whether you’re a total outdoorsy type or more interested in luxurious, small trips, conversion vans are a great way to get to and from just about any destination! The greatest thing about a conversion van is the ability to customize it to whatever your needs may be. Recent college graduates looking for rock climbing excitement and professionals seeking elegant and spacious transportation for clients will be impressed with the versatility of a conversion van!
